tummy tub

I'm not sure how many of you saw the Tummy Tub this morning on the TODAY show (which I honestly don't know how I saw, since I never watch morning shows ... total fluke that it was on in the background while I was reading to Vin). I so want one!!! What a great way to keep your little baby warm and fully submerged in the water while bathing!

Bathing a new baby is stressful for a number of reasons. During those first few months it's all about supporting the head, and how do you wash the bum at the same time (which is really the main area you want to bathe anyway), and then you want to make sure to keep the baby warm so you're trying to pour water over them every few seconds because you only have an inch of water in the tub and the only body parts submerged (and just barely at that) are their bums and their feet! Seriously, those first few baths with Vin were a site to behold, I'm sure. We did read of a few tricks, like using extra wash cloths to cover the upper body and hopefully keep them from freezing. Oh what funny first-time parents we've been ... but in the beginning you really do everything you can to keep the tears from coming on. You don't want to torture the poor thing, right?

Anyway, I think this is one of the best new baby items I've seen in a LOOOOOOONG time (and strangely enough the TODAY show said it's not even new ... it's been used around the world since 1996!) I can't wait to figure out how to get me one! It appears the website they provided is down ... I imagine the sole source in the US (who apparently keeps her stock in her basement) was completely unprepared for the publicity she got this morning.
