The concept of celebrating the pending arrival of every baby (not just the first born) makes perfect sense. I only just accepted this recently.
Both my mommy group (as you saw in an earlier post) as well as my long-time girlfriends insisted on celebrating . Initially I was quite opposed as we had such a HUGE celebration prior to Vincent's arrival. People were generous to an extent that I never would have expected, and at times, even still, it makes me a little uncomfortable that were truly were showered with so much love and kindness. We really do have wonderful friends and family.
What I liked most about the celebration my girlfriends threw last night is that they took my request to heart and chose to do a "Sprinkle" rather than a "Shower". A Sprinkle focuses on the necessities that are needed for every child rather than all the major items which were probably already received or purchased for the first. Perfect, right? A few new items of clothing are always needed, as well as shampoo, lotion/creams, baby towels, breastfeeding goodies, and (of course!) diapers. Not only that, but this celebration was another welcomed excuse to spend a few fun hours with girlfriends over some great food and delicious cupcakes. A special thanks to Tiff W for putting it all together. I loved it!!
