the day of the sleepers

We got lucky enough to get another day of sun so we decided it was time for the zoo. But who knew that so many of the zoo animals sleep in past noon?! Since Vin's new favorite movie is Madagascar, we were excited to show him the Zebras, Hippos, Lions, and Giraffes. The Zebras were first on the route and lucky us -- we got a great view of their backsides as they lay sleeping in the sun. Next up were the Hippos and once again, sleeping. Then finally, our timing was a bit more on. Just as we were walking by they let the Giraffes out. I don't know why I always forget how huge they are. Vin was excited to see them too. Last on the route were the Lions and one sorta woke up for us, yawned, but that was about it. Sleepy sleepyheads!

So what were the biggest highlights for Vin? The squirrel who joined us for lunch when we arrived (seriously, no fear ... and we had to hold Vin back from trying to pet him!) the leaves which had fallen on the ground (he started picking up his favs and putting them in the stroller bag to take home), and the pool of water in the Jaguar cage (seriously, he wouldn't stop laughing and running around in circles ... it was pretty funny.)

Vin was happy to run around on his own most of the day. What a great way to burn off some energy. He was sound asleep before we were even half way home.
