new sights and sounds

Colin is finally getting into the activity gym and has fun banging the toys around for about 15 minutes at a time. He also seems to enjoy watching Vin run around and often smiles when he hears Vin's voice. It will be fun to see Colin pick up new things from his big brother as they grow up together. I think Vin is going to be great at it!

Our jumbo baby is also cooing for us right now and seems quite pleased when we coo back. I can't get enough of his big smiles and look forward to him laughing at us within the next 4-6 weeks (though he's giggled a few times while nursing but apparently that doesn't count as a milestone).

That red mark by Colin's eye is a strawberry birthmark. They most often show at birth, but his showed up around 6 weeks. Hopefully it won't continue to get bigger, as they often do. So long as it doesn't affect his vision the docs say to leave it alone. Eventually they go away without doing anything at all. At first it looked like the Hawaiian Islands but it's starting to look more like a guitar now. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Colin's sleeping is still good as well (knock, knock) -- with the exception of last night when we had company. We think his 2 month immunizations may have contributed to the nearly 3 hours of off and on fussing/crying before finally going down for the evening. Still, he slept 5 hours, nursed for all of 10 minutes, and slept for another 3 so I can't complain.

Little V has found a new way to entertain himself in his crib -- by sticking his feet through the slats and getting stuck. Once stuck he can't get himself out. We really need to make the move to the big boy bed. I think he might actually be ready.
