Colin is such a sweet little baby. He really is. He is so tolerant of the noise created in our house, of the friends and family parading through, of the barking dogs, of me washing dishes and putting them away (which really is a noisy chore). To top it off, he is sleeping 6-8 hours in a row each night, followed by another 2-3. I am getting more sleep than I ever dreamed was possible. We are so lucky and so grateful and we knock on wood daily that it will last.
It's hard not to compare your children -- but it's not really comparing one to the other because one is better or worse, rather just that they can be SOOOOO different! The differences are so interesting and it's hard not to wonder why. I guess it just proves that some things really are nature and some really are nurture, and you really don't know which, as a parent, you will have the most influence on until you meet your child and get to know them. It's a fun process, even if sometimes challenging. I can't imagine trying to write a book about it, though I do read A LOT in hopes that someone will eventually give me that perfect piece of advice that I've been waiting and looking for.
We're also very lucky that Vin is very loving with Colin. Just today Vin did the cutest thing! We were downstairs, Colin in his swing just barely waking up and making a few little noises to let me know, when Vin spotted two of Colin's binkies on the kiddie table. He immidiately grabbed one and started to put it in his mouth when I told him no, that it was his brother's binkie. Then Vin looked over at Colin, laughed and smiled, walked over to Colin and tried to put the binkie in his mouth. Colin just smiled so Vin left the binkie next to his face, grabbed the second binkie, and did it again! It was so sweet and I praised him for being such a good big brother. It completely melted my heart. That was the first time Vin didn't put Colin's binkie in his mouth and run like hell to keep me from taking it :) Progress, true progress!
