Walking by 1

It truly is amazing how quickly the past year has gone by. Our little boy is 1 year old today!! He has changed so much, and with each milestone he is becoming his own little person. I've heard that at this stage people often feel sad and wish for their little ones to be that tiny little baby again. I can't say I feel that way ... only because every day he amazes me more and more. With each stage I can't help but be excited and in awe of how quickly he picks up something new ... from day one until now. Each change is amazing and wonderful and I'm so grateful to have such a happy, curious, and sometimes mischievous little boy! Chris and I are so in love with him ...

Watching him as he learns new things, seeing his funny little personality really come to life, listening to him babble and occasionally saying real words are just a few of the awe inspiring moments that you get to experience in parenthood. But watching him really start to walk yesterday -- now that was incredible. The first time he did it on his own, without any prodding, he was standing up by the baby gate (watching Kramer on the other side) when he turned around and just walked across the room. It was all I could do not to scream and start jumping up and down. After that, he just kept doing it -- walking from one thing to another as if walking was the obvious choice. Seriously, each change is so exciting that I can't imagine longing for the past. I'm just trying to enjoy each moment as it happens, each new discovery, each achievement, each milestone mastered.
